Trip to London

Grant Museum of Zoology

This museum helped me to gather reference and anatomy materials, to help influence what my design could could look like and how I could combine certain features and shaped to create a part-transformed look.

The different shapes of skulls and teeth were interesting to look at, and how far back in the mouth they go. Also in relation to th eWendigo I found skulls with horns from animals from bulls, to Deer which was iteresting to see where they are placed ont he head.

When visiting London, I visited The Grant museum of Zoology and the Wellcome Museum. I found that the Grant museum was of most help to me, as anatomy of animals is an integral part of my research, to start off my project..

These images from the Wellcome museum, gave me inspiration again, of different skulls and shapes. Also ont he right, images of Death Masks were interesting to look at as they reflected what scares people. Each have an intense feature wether it be popping eyes or simply a strange combination of human hybrids. The bold colours and emphasis on particular features are a loud and scary display.

This footage shows the evolution of man by American artist, Daniel Lee.

This was interesting for me to look at to see at what point the human becomes unrecogniseable and instead becomes an animal. I found that the nose and mouth joined together earlier than the body transformation, which made it clearer to me that when designing my creature makeup, to consider what small features I can alter to give a dramatic look to make the vierwer look twice and question whether it represents the human form.
