For my character, I wanted to explore how a hairless creature owuld look. I started first with the Werewolf as my inspiration, which soon changed to the Wendigo, a forest creature. Both of which are ahiry or have fur on their bodies and face. I wanted to look at canines and see how they would look without fur.
When searching for hairless dogs, I came across:
-The American Hairless Terrrier
American hairless terriers are a rare breed of dog that were derived from a variant of the Rat Terrier.
-Peruvian Inca Orchid
An ancient hairless dog from Peru, discovererd in early 1500s by the Spanish. They are possibly the origin of the Chinese Crested breed.
-Xoloitzcuintle or Mexican Hairless
The Xoloitzcuintle is a hairless dog breed native to Mexico. There is archaeological evidence that they existed in Mexico for more than 3,000 years and descended from several breeds of Old World dog breeds.

Hairless Dogs
These images were useful to look at for reference when sculpting and drawing my designs. Also when testing hair techniques such as hair punching, flocking or layuin on, I can look at these images to ensure my direction of hair growth loks accurate. As I am planning on using flocking and hair punching for this project, these images have helped me to decide where I want the hair to be. I will flock/ hair punch the tips of the ears and I will have a long hairpiece down the centre of th ehead to tie in the human features.
Images are colour coded.
