Commercial makeup - focus features, bolder, red carpet look, achievable for the consumer.

Editorial - overall presentation of a luxury brand, celebrity endorsed, more creative, aesthetically pleasing, portfolio appropriate and would show skills 

J Crew vs Prada, both selling a product but very different 

Distinguish target audience
-gender, age, U.K. Or international, brand, photographers style/ influences  

Mario Testino, known for natural makeup. So as makeup artist, needs to be natural and enhancing for the model 

Tim Walker, very particular style, creative makeup and extravagant style

Must be current to know what people are interested in to make your makeup successful - in portfolio this reflects your research skills, supports your choices 

Four trends for A/W 2015:
Beautiful and damned
- black smudged kohl eyes, black lips, luminous polished skin 

Strength of beauty
-fresh skin, subtle colour placement to enhance features, brow gels, no makeup look

Love worn
-smokey eye, looks slept in, grey tones, natural glosses

Red 70's
-red lips, deep plum, brick tones, rust/caramel blends in the eye, lip stains, fresh skin

2016 predictions
-vogue magazines etc
-Pinterest and Instagram

- summarise portfolio theme and objective
- make sure portfolios are up to date 
-portfolio layout
