Pre Painting Silicone

Clancy, M. 2015. Powdah FX -Vein technique [online] Instagram, AUS.

Using silicone paints which was a mixture of silicone sealer, white spirit and oil paint, I started  to add different tones to the face piece. Details such as the cuts on the cheek were also enhanced using layers of silicone paint, with cabosil powdered between layers.

Vein experiment

I found this post on Instagram which I thought would be useful to enhance veins.

To enhance the mottled tones I want to create on my appliance, I will try out this method of adding wool.

I will collect red, blue and purple tones and see whether this is appropriate for my makeup. To seal the fibre and stop it from moving, I will apply it with silicone paint base, whilst pre-colouring.

By pulling apart fine bits of coloured thread, I was able to use the fine fibres to replicate veins as an interesting and detailed feature on the skin. They look organic and subtle when applied in small amounts. I adhered these whilst pre-painting in silicone. Withih this time the wool became encapsulated between the silicone layers.
