Critical Evaluation

In relation to LO1, I think I successfully stuck to my time plan as close as I possibly could. I also feel that having a plan made me more motivated and structured, ensuring that I was efficient and allowed enough contingency time for any mistakes made. By having a daily plan, I was able to stay on track and note what I had and hadn’t achieved that day, which helped to ensure nothing was forgotten. The evaluations at the end of each week have helped me to write up an overall evaluation for specialist practice, right from the start.

Budgeting to meet LO1 was a task enabling me to understand a realistic amount of expenses for one project. This has also prepared me for major project, so I will have a better idea of what I am expected to spend. I managed to stick within my allowed budget, however, there was not much left, so this budget seemed appropriate.
I feel that the amount of work I produced for this project was of an ideal amount when considering the 20 credits, but to also realise the importance of working at level 6 standard. To achieve this, I wanted to produce a body of work which was of thorough quality rather than quantity. My logged work is clear and presented in a way in which it can be navigated easily to see which areas I have covered within research and experimentation. I also feel that I met an appropriate level of experimentation.

To meet LO3, I wanted to take the risk of producing a full life-cast which would then give me a full head fibreglass core to work from. As along the way, I struggled to produce the two halves, perhaps it was to my advantage that this didn’t work, as I couldn’t justify why I wanted a full head when I wasn’t creating a full head of makeup. I took risks with the hair work, as I needed to find a way to create a hair piece which I could incorporate into the centre part of my models hair, gathering as much knowledge from wig books as I could, I then spoke to a tutor and discussed possible ways of achieving this.  Occasionally, I asked staff for help, but when I did, I went to them with an idea and asked if this was the best direction to go in. I was looking for guidance, not answers as I had done my research beforehand. I also asked when it was difficult to find resources, as the library and internet failed to help me with specific technical issues. I did turn to contacts I had made from the industry, which helped me by suggesting methods they had used in their own projects.

To enable me to meet LO4, I have communicated my idea through design and pursued this to become my outcome in portfolio standard images and footage for my show reel. This puts my work into its intended context, for film and TV.
