Testing Hip Wound
Materials for silicone paint:
-Bathroom Sealer
-Low odour, White spirit
-Oil Paint
Mixing the silicone and white spirit together, creates the paint base where tiny amounts of oil paint are added to pigment the opaint to created the colours required to replicate:
-Fat
-Muscle tissue
-Blood
To test colours on this piece, I used the FX skin illustrator Pallette which created beautifully accurate colours. I compared this to silicone paints which were stronger as they sank into the silicone. The silicone paint method required layers to build up the colour strength with cabosil in between layers.
To create an adhesive which can give a gloopy texture to replicate tissue and blood coming from the wound, I will use denture powder or methylcellulose to mix with Nick Dudman blood. The powder will absorb the blood and then I will be able to mix it in and leave it to sit until gloopy.
Once inserting a layer of blood, I would stipple around the seam to blend the edge away. This would also have been more discrete if I had stippled the final layer of skin sculpt before it had cured.
Next time I will also spread a wider layer of fat, as the slesh layer was too big making the peeled skin look too clean.
