Hair and Makeup
Various areas of my models hair will be slicked down in small amounts to allow space to create the appearance if a bald patch. To create the flesh patch to sit on top of the hair, I will create some small silicone flap pieces which I can adhere to the hair surface. Th blend these in with the rest of the hair, I will lay on or punch in individual hairs to create a more realistic ans more sparse effect.
Laying on hair
I didn't like this method as the spirit gum created an unatural texture and shine to the flat pieces. However, it was the best way to gain more hair coverage.
The hair I used needs to be styled to mak eit look more natural as it is very straight, mkaing is visibly stand out from the existing hair.
Hair Punching
This method was a lot cleaner in appearance, however, I was concerned that I wouldnt be able to pull the hair out of it as easily. This method also meant there would be no residue left on the hair or flat piece once pulled away. I also preferred the appearance as it looks more realistic as it is withing th silicone pieces. It as also quicker to apply these pieces, as teh hair is already attached, however I do need to take extra care when applying, so that the hair isnt caught in the adhesive.
Gafquat in the industry
Blade II, 2002.
Amongst the many makeup artists who worked on this film, Gafquat was used to enable hair to be lay on top of a prosthetic bald patch, which matched the characters hair, this was then used to give the effect of hair being pulled from his scalp in a large clump.

-Skin Illustrator
-IPA
Using skin illustrator, I created a progressive look of ilness. This makeup is supposed to reflect deterioration as anorexia takes over my models body.
Using a small soft brush, I applied translucent layers of a purpleish tint inder my models. I also used a dull skin shade to add shadow under the cheek bones. This helps to give an impression of an unhealthy weight developing.
The skin illustrator was an appropriate choice for this subtle makeup. I could also try using my Skin Illustrator glazes as they are in a ray of colours I can thin down with IPA to achieve the same effect.
I could also use grease paint, however it is easy to go over the top and apply too much as it is an opaque material.
