Stan Winston - The Art of the Fat Suit
This DVD was interesting to watch to see how fat suits are made, and how proportions of weight are placed on the body.
This DVD hasn't particularly helped me, as I wase expecting to see some anatomical reference to see how and where fat would sit on the body. However, this could become useful to me in the future.
Materials:
-Batting
-matress foam
-plastic pellets
-polystyrene
-spandex
Patterns of the bodice are made to help achieve the desired shape. once happy, the pattern piece is pinned to the fabric which is then sewn to create a pocket for stuffing.
The fat suit is made up of many sections to give a more realistic idea of mass of fat in certain areas. There are also ares to consider where skin may not be so supple, so may then appear softer and looser than other padded areas.
