For the third run, I decided to brush in some foam latex to ensure there were no possibilities for air bubbles to interfere with the piece.

For the second run, I injected 250g of base

20%: 50g

20%: 50g

14%: 35g

For this first run, I estimated the amount of Faom needed by looking at my clay. This was measured by eye in volume.

For my first run I used:

  • 300g base

  • 60g

  • 60g

  • 42g

There was a lot of extra foam coming out of the mould. So to avoid waste, will reduce the next run to a 250g base.

RUN 1

RUN 2&3

For the first run, this was really successful. There were no airbubles or issues witht he piece at all as it filled correctly.

Next tim I will add clamps to ensure it's as tight as possibel to ensure the seam is tiny and easily hidden.

When demoulding, the left side at the back caught, and due to the angle of the mould on the head, I couldn't stop this area from tearing. It appeared particularly thin in this area.

On runs 2 and 3 the same problem occured when demoulding. The back teared as it was thinner. I think this was due to having a different core. I think that with the original core this piece could have been perfect. However I am unsure of whether I sculpted this side slightly thinner without realising.

Ultimately, the mould catching on the left side of the head indicated to me that the head shape wasnt quite right, as when I demoulded the sculpt originally, I did not have this issue.
