There are a range of products used to create temporary tattoos.

I have used skin illustrator to create simple tattoos, howver fot his project I wanted to use transfer paper to give myelf a guideline. However, I liked the look of the purple transfer ink and decided to add colours into this instead.

USING TRANSFER PAPER

Method:

  1. Draw design onto carbon paper

  2. Prepare skin, clean with IPS

  3. Take design, carbon side down

  4. Use wet sponge to press down on design

  5. Gently peel back

  6. Apply required details

  7. Fix with hairspray or sealer

On the left, I added silver Aqua colour in small amoutns. However I discovered that it would be better to use a solid metallic silver rather than this water based colour, as it appears grainy.

On the right, I added UV paints to give the impression of light coming through the skin. I think this worked quite well but instead I will explore with a silicone prosthetic and create depth in the skin rather than creating an illusion, as different camera angles when filming may ruin this effect.

I looked into temporary tattoos as i thought this could be a possible way of achieving the circuit boards on the back of my characters necks.

There are a few ways to create temporary tattoos including:

  • Inks

  • Skin Illustrators

  • Tattoo pens

  • Airbrushing stencils

  • Transfer paper
